The Anchor Point stories can be read in any order -- jump in wherever you'd like!

For Sean Wright, driving a cab in the tiny Navy town of Anchor Point isn’t an exciting job . . . until he picks up just-dumped Paul Richards. A drive turns into a walk on the pier, which turns into the hottest hookup Sean’s had in ages.

After a long overdue breakup, Paul can’t believe his luck. Of all the drivers, he’s picked up by the gorgeous, gay, and very willing Sean. Younger guys aren’t usually his thing, but Paul can’t resist.

One taste and neither man can get enough . . . right up until they realize that Paul is Sean’s father’s commanding officer and the last man Sean should be involved with.

With two careers on the line, their only option is to back off. It’s not easy, though; the sex and the emotional connection are exactly what both men have been craving for a long time. But Paul has devoted twenty-four years to his career and his dream of making admiral. If he’s caught with Sean, that’s all over. He has to choose — stay the course, or trade it all for the man who drove off with his heart.

This is a beautifully written love story with fully developed characters and plot. I read a lot of romance from a variety of genres. I'm always on the look out for something with unexpected depth that makes me think. This book had that in spades. Both Paul and Sean were interesting and I enjoyed learning about them, getting into their heads, and seeing each from the other's perspective. The hurdles they faced were real, and I adored Sean for recognizing the position he was putting his father and Paul in - he was angry at the unfairness of it, and when pushed he had a lot to say about the hardships of being a military brat - but he always loved them and was able to make mature loving decisions regardless of how unfair it all was. This is my first book by this author, but it won't be my last. The writing was great, the emotions were real, it never dragged - I wanted to read every word. The sex scenes were hot without being gross and they furthered the plot. Just a fabulous book and one of my favourite M/M that I've ever read.

Just Drive Anchor Point Book 1 edition by LA Witt Romance eBooks Reviews

A well written, low angst storyline with a different angle on military relationships and those who serve our country. There is a bit too much internal dialog and at times I wanted to tell the characters to grow up, yes even Paul! It ends with the expected HEA, done with almost a bit too much flair.
This is my second book in this series - will quickly be reading the rest!
40-something Commanding Officer of a Naval base meets 20-something Uber driver....and all the necessary complications
Both 'regular guy's - nice men, the kind you'd hang out with
Way fun book, and also incredibly Hot
)
I bought all of these books a while ago and they've just been sitting in my TBR list - I shouldn't have waited!

The best thing about this, having served in the US Navy, was the fact that this actually was realistic. The acronyms, the terms, the regs and just the general feel of the book and the characters was very authentic to my experience. I loved that Paul's love for Sean beat out his ambition, but reading about their need to be discreet, and the double standards that still exist even after DADT was repealed was emotionally compelling.
This is completely off-genre for me. I have never been a fan of romance novels, and am not completely sure why I started this kick. I did enjoy this book, however, even though parts of it were a bit clumsy, particularly the handling of the main characters' backstories. Also, the sex scenes were somewhat stilted at times. All in all, though, an entertaining read, entertaining enough that I will probably read the next book in the series before going back to my usual military sci-fi and action/adventure, which brings me to my final point. Even a romance novel can include a bit of action and suspense. The best of them do, and these are military themed stories, after all.
There is not one negative thing to say about this book. I loved it. I loved the characters, I loved the romance, I loved the angst (shed a little tear at one point), I loved the ending... Get the picture... I was a navy baby so I could relate slightly to this but we didn't move as much, but I still didn't know much about my dad in my early years with deployments etc so the description of the sacrifices people make was exceptionally well written...Paul and Sean were perfect..
This one's theme--older Navy officer and base CO vs. mid-20s Navy brat--has a lot of promise to it, basically fulfilled. However, most of the book takes place in motel rooms, or similarly discreet places, and the lovemaking is steamy and explicit throughout.

Am I complaining? No, I give it four stars because eventually we get to the point of why Commander Paul Richards and Sean Wright should not be meeting this way, or any way, and from there the plot takes off. It's a heart wrenching last 25% of the book which got me to continue reading it.

The way the principals solve their issues and the way the book ends (out of the clear blue sky) sets this one up from three to four stars and makes me, a devoted L.A. Witt fan, want to read the rest of the series.
I'm not usually into books about the military, despite my upbringing (or perhaps because of it). But as romance novels go, it was beyond fascinating for me to read about issues on both sides of the divide--the military man, bound to his rules and regulations, and the dependent, ever wary of what could be lost in the blink of an eye.

So with that said, I empathized greatly with Sean (the dependent) and his struggles. A good guy, as military brats go, and a good head on his shoulders, with a supportive yet demanding father, unwittingly falling for Paul, the base commander, who more than reciprocated the feelings.

As a military kid, Sean has had his share of having to give things up. So naturally, when push came to shove, love would be on the line yet again, for more reasons than he could fight. It's heartbreaking, because it rings so familiar. We are a rum bunch, military brats. We get to see the world, in many cases--but it's quite possible that we would rather have a friendship that lasts a lifetime over not having roots or long-lasting friends to speak of.

In other words, as the son of a man who retired after 20 years in the Army, I understood Sean's pain succinctly. And as an enlisted man, I understood the complications and the lives both Sean's father and Paul chose to lead.

It's almost as if this book was written for me.

And I enjoyed every page.
